Vik Hill, CEO of Santander Consumer Finance UK, has become the latest Silver member to join the Automotive 30% Club – an association of industry leaders aiming to achieve a more balanced gender representation within the automotive industry.
The Automotive 30% Club aim to fill at least 30% of key leadership positions in the member’s organisations with diverse women by 2030 through a “30 by 30” strategy.
Vik commented “I am committed to all aspects of diversity and inclusion within our business, particularly given that there is plenty of research which shows that diverse teams tend to perform far better than those that are not diverse. Achieving a better balance, in terms of gender representation, is core to that strategy. We are delighted to join the Automotive 30% Club – an initiative which we believe can make a very real difference within the automotive sector.
Through this initiative, we recognise the potential for significant impact, both within our organisation and the wider industry. To that extent, we intend to remain resolute in pursuit of enhancing gender representation throughout our business. We look forward to collaborating with like-minded organisations who are similarly committed to improving workplaces across the sector.”
Julia Muir, founder of the Automotive 30% Club, added: “I’m delighted that Vik Hill has joined the Automotive 30% Club as a Silver Member. Santander Consumer Finance is a valued partner to many automotive brands including our members Kia and Volvo Cars, and it’s great that they fully recognise the critical importance of gender balance to business success. I’m pleased to welcome Vik and the team to our network of collaborative inclusive leaders and our best practice sharing meetings.”
